SnB Anyone?
Okay - because knitting is slow in the storm this week, I thought I would give myself a real kick in the ass to get going on the Gina's Lace sweater at the local SnB on Wednesday night at Lettuce Knits. Anyone from the GTA Knit Bloggers Ring interested in meeting up there? I know some of them do, as I read their blogs faithfully. Dani is in, Sandra - are you in? I know Corrie is still walking for the Weekend To End Breast Cancer, so a NO for her! And Laura works at Lettuce Knits, so maybe she will stay?
Even if you don't let me know, I'm going and totally looking forward to meeting the people behind the blogs.
And thanks all for the kind words to get better. I'm doing a bit better than I was, so that is all you can hope for.
Knit on!

Knitting - What's That?
As you can tell by the title of this post, I've not done much knitting this week. I've started Gina's Lace 3 times, and will try again for the 4th freaking time. I got half way through Glampyre's Boob Holder, which I frogged last night. Why? I had a dropped stitch. Now I know how to pick up dropped stitches, but not when it was an increase stitch and sticking out sideways. Weird eh? Oh well. So, it is gone. Which is okay because the yarn I used was Paton's Divine, and quite itchy. I could never have worn it without sweating up a storm. So, there you have it. Nothing on the needles. And you know what? I feel okay about it. It is nice not to think about what to do next and obssess over finishing it, so I can start on the next project.
I do have a pair of socks on the needles - but you know they really don't count as a true WIP, as it is a travel project, I've knit about 20 pairs of socks using the same pattern, and I could knit them in my sleep. Knitting socks makes my family happy. My older daughter loves them. My one brother in law - begs for them. And well, my other brother in law - burned one of his in the fire last year. How did it happen you ask? Well, they were wet, he hung them on the fire place above a roaring fire to dry, and as he was bragging to his wife, that he got a pair before her, one fell in. Well - I guess that should teach anyone not to brag while your socks are held hostage above the fire. C'est La Vie.
Another reason this post is so far from the last - I;m sick as a dog. I'm going to the doctor today, as I can't feel my throat, my head can't fit through a door way, believe me, it is that big due to the whopping headache I have, and my chest feels like someone is punching it everytime I cough. Don't feel sorry for me. I always boast I never get sick, so the Gods get me - everytime I say it.
You think I would learn, eh?
Hope your knitting is going better than mine.

Hello Out there....
Last night was my bi-weekly knitting meeting with Sandra, Corrie and Jason. I did not knit a thing. I brought the Gina's Lace sweater you see in the last post, but just was not motivated to do it. Well, I cast on, and knit one row. Big f'ing deal. So, we left early. Who leaves a knitting group early? Well, apparently, we did - all of us. Oh well. My mom told me there would be days like that.
So, because I have no knititng news, I thought I would share the yarn I've bought at the local thrift stores over the last couple of weeks for you viewing pleasure:

All for about .50 cents a ball! Good night ladies, good night ladies, I have to leave you now. (Man, I listen to way too much kid's music)

I've done little in the last couple days, which is okay, since in the last two weeks - I made - Sophie, a Bucket Hat, a kitty kat hat, a devil hat, and sewed the poncho together. All that is left with the poncho is sewing in the ends.. Easy as pie. So what's next? Lets take a look see:

I bought this pattern from a fibres show and love it. The pic does not do it justice, but believe me, it is. Well, I think so! I am using Paton's Merino Wool in black, and will get started in the next couple of days.
Wish me luck...

Entry 2:
Here is the Kitty Cat and Devil hats (for the kitty cat knit along) I made for my little girls - and so with that - my list of August 9th is complete:

Entry 1:
Later pictures will be coming, but for now, I wanted to update info for the Grace Along. And without further ado, here is the late breaking news:
Sarah is done like dinner. Go check it out - NOW! It looks great Sarah. Thanks for Gracing with me. BTW - I'm still not done. Is there a rule out there, that the person who starts the along, needs to finish first? Hope not, or I'll be screwed.
The second is - we have Joji from Argentina who will be knitting Grace. Argentina...Coolio. (No, I'm not 16 years old, I just like that word). She doesn't have a blog, so I'll be more than happy to post pics of her and her progress on Grace.
That's it - don't hold your breath too long, the pics will be uploaded later tonight after the kidlets are dreaming of fairies and sugarplums.

Knitting Magazines:
Here is a question I ask myself every 3-4 months a year. Why do all the knitting magazine companies publish their mags at the same time? I think it would be nice if they could get their act together and publish each one in different months. This way, everytime we go into a magazine store, one of the new knitting mags will be there! Not only that, it would be easier for us to decide which projects to start, as there are usually only 1-2 patterns that are good per mag. If you do the math, you could potentially have about 6-8 things you want to knit..all at the same time! Can you do it? I think not.
There is no time to start, yet finish them all. And let's not forget all the WIPs I have, the 'to-do' list of projects from the previous batch of mags that were published, online patterns, patterns you see from other blogs, etc. ????
And then on the other hand, I get a week's worth of reading about one of my favourite subjects.
Can you tell I have no new knitting news to report? yeah, you are right, I dont!
Have a good weekend.

Should I go or should I stay now?
I ask my self this question, everyday I get off the GO train. Should I go to the GoodWill and see if there is any yarn? And the answer is 'YES'. Why oh why do I do this to myself? I'm not sure, but the lure of great yarn at a good deal is too tempting to pass up, so I thought I would pass on my many finds at the thrift stores. On average, I pay about .50 cents a ball, which I believe is mostly good yarn:
10 balls of Goliath 100% pure new wool, in Olive green. It is so soft! If I had enought I could make a Sitcom Chic, but I don't
2 balls of Valurugual - 100% wool in cream - this will be a scarf for my husband
2.5 balls of lady Galt - 70% mohair, 30% arcylic in a bright orange. Who knows what it will be, but who cares?
4 balls of Lion Brand Wool ease in Gold, and 2 Balls in chocolate brown.
4 balls of Sirdar - The Linen Touch, in a linen colour
2 balls of Patons 100% Rustic Wool, in beige
1 Balls of Patons Wool Chunky - 70% wool, 15% mohair in burnt orange - Scarf of ME
2 balls of Bouquet - 75% mohair, 10% wool, 10% arcylic and 5% nylon - a Scarf for me from Intereweave (cant find the link)
1 Balls of Mister Joe in Red - it is kind of like a boucle, but thicker and really soft
1 ball of Filati Carmagnino - Name - parsifal - okay this one is UGLY - looks like a S.O.S. pad in texture and is olive green.
1 ball of Filati Carmagnino - Name: Hyde - it is brown, with little strips of seude attached to the yarn
That's it! Call me crazy, you won't hurt my feelings. I'm a tough gal.
Tonight - there will be no checking, I've had enough of it, well, until next week that is.

2 Things Today (Can you tell I like lists?)
1. Thank you, thank you - thank you to all who left comments on my Sophie and Hat. I love Sophie, but the hat? It is okay. It is so heavy, but since I live in Canada, come the winter, I certainly won't be complaining about the weight. If I don't like it, my mother in law, will take it. I know it. Maybe I shouldn't show it to her? Naw, that wouldn't be nice. See, she takes care of my kids, every day of the week. She comes over to MY house at 5:50am, everyday day for the last 4 and half years. Can you believe it? What a wonderful woman. So, if she wants the hat, she can have it. I gave her the last one happily.
2. I've updated the list of blogs I read. What a great bunch of ladies whom I share cyberspace with. I know some of them, but most I don't, but their nice words warm me up every time I read the comments they have taken the time to write. THANKS!
Oh - one more - I lied, so sue me
3. I've almost finished the cat hat for the Kitty Cat Hat knit a long. The red devil one for the younger daughter has started, and should be off the needles by the end of the week.
Thanks all Folks - over and out.

Look What I Got and Forgot To Show You:
It's a new purse Sandra got for me on her recent trip to NYC:

Wasn't that nice of her? I think so.
Knitting News - started the Bottoms Up Bucket Hat from ChicKnits. Holy mother of God! My hands are killing me. I can not believe it. I've dropped the one ball of yarn, so working with one strand should not be that bad. Trying to finish it this weekend, and yes that includes the felting of it. Actually I think I trying to finish it quickly so I can felt it. Never thought I would say that. I usually don't like felted items. But purses and hats and smaller items look pretty good felted.
Knit on my friends..And have a great weekend.
