Knitting Up A Storm!
Yes...I do knit everywhere!

Wednesday, June 30, 2004

Last night at my knitting meeting with Sandra and Corrie, I did start the seaming of Grace - 4 times. But I was completely unsuccessful. Why, oh why, oh why?  I need help! So the question that pops into my head - who are you going to call?  Ghostbusters? I wish, then it would vanish into their little vacuum, bucket thingie and I wouldn't have to worry about it...

I've put her in her ziploc bag, retired the needle and put as much distance between me and her until the day arrives when I feel victory will be mine.

I sewed the ends in of the berry hat, so today after work pictures will be taking of it, in the light so you can see the full effect of this little, cute hat.  Makes me want another baby so I can make her/him one.  WHAT?  I must be on drugs this morning.  NO - anymore of these hats will be giving to other kids - not mine.  I must go and give my head a shake..

It is Canada Day tomorrow, so, that means, a DAY OFF, means an extra long weekend, and that means - CAMPING.  See y'all on Monday for an update.

GRACE ALERT: 4 Pieces done - Whats Next? A SEAMING Party!

Grace's pieces are done - all 4 of them. I had to block the two upper fronts as they turned out half an inch too short.  I have never blocked anything before, and was a bit nervous, but man, does it ever work!  The size is right, the stitches look nice and even. WOW.  That is all I have to say about blocking.

Seaming will start tonight.

Okay, I did a bit of knitting this weekend - the berry hat is 95% done (I'll post a completed picture),

The purse's picture has not been taken (Maybe tonight?), BUT, I did take pictures of these lovely beauties found at one of the LYS:

.99 cents for this:

.99 cents for this:

1.00 for each of the following patterns:

I like the smock on the right.

for my husband, but then he saw it and said 'NO WAY would I wear that':

Not sure if I would make/wear this:

Got to love the older patterns.  I love them. Not sure when I am going to have time/energy/money to make these, but there is always tomorrow!

Two more pics - Vogue knitting mag I didn't have:

Sock Yarn - for who?  Not sure:

I also got more blocking pins and size 9mm circulars to make this.

This is the Monday morning update.  Happy knitting baby!

3 pieces done - 1 to go!

I am almost done knitting Grace.  Whoppee (is that a word?)  I started the upper front this morning, and maybe, just maybe, it will be finished by Thursday.  Most likely Friday, but as always my cup is half full.

I have been tempted many times while knitting Grace to start the berry hat for the two little ones coming in September. But I've been good!  The angel in me is saying - finish Grace, then move on. And that is exactly what I am doing.  But, I do have quite a number of projects waiting in the wings.

How about you - how many do you have waiting for you?

Really - I worked on Grace - for a total of 30 minutes this weekend. Why oh why can't I have more time to knit? It is quite impossible, when you have to go to:

Saturday:

- My girl's gymnastics class (this is usually a 2 hour ordeal which turned into over 4 hours - as they received their ribbons and report cards),

- A wedding - my cousin and his partner married on Saturday,

Sunday:

- Father's day and sister in law's birthday lunch (I live a big fat Macedonian Life - so this is how we usually spend our Sundays)

- Cleaning, cleaning, and oh yeah, more cleaning. (We have out of town visitors coming - generally I only clean for two reasons: visitors and I can't stand it anymore.

So, I usually make promises about finishing this that or the other thing - but not this time. I am going to do my best to complete the following:

1. back of Grace

2. Take pictures of the completed purse for the purse a long. OOOhhh - I didn't mention this before? I finished it two weeks ago and don't even have time to take it's picture, post and write about it. Two things - that is all I have to do. I will get right on it - SIR! (Really, I am saluting.)

Stash Envy Continued

I want to continue my thoughts from yesterday's post. There are some of us who have stash envy, there are some of us who have too much stash, or perceive they have too little, we have no where to put it, no where to hide it and last but not least - justify it.

My definition of Stash is - the amount of yarn, needles, notions, books and magazines you own.

What I am trying to get out of this is - I am interested to know where you fit in? Why? Whynot?

&

How do you organize your stash? I would LOVE to know.

One more thing - see Here if you want to join or want more info on knitting Grace.

STASH ENVY!

I have stash envy - real bad.Everyone on the net seems to have a huge stash, so I am working my way up to a big one myself.

Why do we feel the need to buy more and more yarn, notions, patterns when we KNOW starting (nevermind about finishing) these projects are in our far far future? Am I deluding myself into thinking I actually have the time to make all these things? Am I stocking up for when my kids don't depend on me for their entertainment and hence my time is freed up?

For me - I like opening my closet and seeing all the yarn, neatly put away (well most of it is), the needles, knitting books and magazines on the shelves. I like organizing it all, touching it. I am sure I am not the only one. Are you like this?

Last night while waiting for my knitting buddies to arrive, I decided to go to Lewis Craft and bought the following:

1. two balls of sock yarn - for my older daughter

2. three balls of Paton's Shetland Chunky (for this)

3. four Balls of Sugar n'Cream (2 bucket hats for my girls)

I can justify these purchases, really, I can and because I feel the need I am going to justify it NOW:

1. My daughter loves knitted socks (any left overs will be made into baby socks)

2. I can't wear this vest now, so the project can wait until fall (I should be able to finish my current WIPs and then have this waiting in the wings)

3. I need small easy projects for my week off at the cottage! And my girls can wear them then.

I did it - justification at it's finest. I can justify just about any yarn purchase, but what about the other yarn sitting in my closet already? That question is like the devil on my shoulder. Alas, that little guy never seems to disappear.

What to do? Decisions, decisions, decisions.

I guess I didnt cross my fingers and toes hard enough over the weekend, so the back of Grace has not even started. I got about 80% of the left upper front done on the drive to camping, and I had a similar look to this on the way home and no knitting done:

At lunch today I have my work knitting group, and tomorrow night my afterwork knitting group to attend, so, the left and right fronts should be done. And if I am aiming high, why not promise casting on for the back?

There you have if folks, the Monday morning update. Have a good one.

Sorry no pattern yet - having technical difficulities. Okay, that is really not true, we didn't even try. We were downstairs about to open Adobe, and ooopps, it is on the computer upstairs. It was 10:30pm at night, so the husband is going to try and do it today before we leave for camping.

Click-Clack was kind enough to create two buttons for me. Here is one:

for the Grace along I am hosting. If you are interested, let me know. You can use any yarn that gets gauge.

And this:

for the Knitblog ring I manage. Looks 100% better than the crap I came up with.

The ring is open to anyone in the G.T.A. (and in Canada, if ya want to join-why not?)

Cross your fingers and toes for the completion of Grace's back. I know I am.

Been awhile, but not much knitting happening at my house, so why bother post about other things? Apparently there are other blogs out there that don't want to hear about kids or pets or for that matter anything but knitting, I suppose. But funny enough, one of their posts were mainly about bashing other's blogs. Call me crazy, but isn't that a bit crazy? "I don't want to read about your interests, so I am going to write about how much I don't want to read about your interests."  But in some posts, there is a mish-mash of daily updates - knitting, where they have been, where they want to go....I like reading other's knitting blogs, especially when there is a bit more info about that person than just knitting.

Could be wrong, I've been know to be in the past.

But I do have the lace skull hat pattern for this, for YOU:

My husband will put into pdf format tonight and you should have it tomorrrow when you wake up! Yah! I am finished! Yah! Oh yeah, that was another thing others didn't like - all the Yahs in blogs. What's wrong with that? Again call me crazy. Yah!

Anyone who showed interest from my initial post, I will email you the pattern.
