Weekend knitting? Not much. And not because my darling wee ones took up my time - but because on Saturday, I was knocked flat on my ass with some strange flu like bug. It bit me BAD. Then Sunday morning - it was gone. It came, it saw, it left. Okay - so everything that needed to be done on Saturday and Sunday was done in one day. Hence, not a lot of knitting, except.....
Small progress on the purse. The tabs are done, the ends are sewn in, I just need to have Sandra sew in the damn lining, as I suck, I say, I suck at sewing! I will hopefully have the FO's picture up here in a few days. To continue in FogHorn, LegHorn style, I am , I say, I am out of here.

Good news people - I have created a button. Anyone care? See it on the right - yeah right there! As my wonderful mother in law says "You like? You take!"
Other than that, nothing exciting happening in the knitting department. Two of the four tabs on the purse are complete. Big whoop dee doo da. Hopefully the other two will be done this weekend and I can line the sucker. But, then again, you never know. Seems children take up a lot of your spare time. Who would have thought? Just kidding. Lots of kid activities planned this weekend, so I doubt I will have a FO to show in the next couple of days.
Knit on my friends.

Chello everyone! I am going to cut to the chase - three people (including myself) are interested in a Grace A Long! Three - come on now - sign up, knit it, wear it, love it! Will ya be more interested if I create a button to put on your site? will ya? Well, its a coming, dont worry. The other two ladies are:
Sue and
Corrie and
Me, me, mee!
The rules for this knit a long, well, there are no rules. I HATE rules. So, well, there is one, just knit GRACE. That is all! Nothing more, nothing less. Seems easy? Well get on the bandwagon, buy some yarn (or for that matter, I am sure you have it in your stash!), check your needle supply and start it up!
Knitting News-I am almost, almost done the purse. Few more rounds, then the handles, buy the wooden dowels and fabric lining, sew in the lining....Aaahh.. I am not almost done. Why does it take as much time to do the finishing touches as it does to knit the damn thing? WHY? It is not fair. Er, sorry, starting to sound like my 5 year old now. With that, good bye.

Warning - long post! Here goes:
1. Last week I put the call out - Any body want to Grace (from the current Knitty.com patterns) my pages and knit a long with me? any takers? Anyone? I know you wanna! Email me and let me know you have answered the call.
2. I joined the purse a long hosted by http://flyingwombat.typepad.com/wombatty/. I am knitting the purse designed by my friend Sandra. I have the bottom and about 8 rounds done so far. Dont know why - but I really enjoy picking up stitches. It must be from the number of socks I have made.
3. Isn't this best site you can see when on a long car trip with two small children?

This took about 5 minutes of driving. This NEVER happens! We enjoyed our coffee in peace - for once on the long drive home. YIPPEE.
4.I found these (and three others) at the grocery store:

They are baskets to hold WIPs. They are very flexible, cute and oh man, I am a sucker for organizational items. I cant get enough of them - crazy isn't it? Leave a comment and let me know if you feel the same way towards baskets, boxes, cupboards. I would LOVE to know I am not alone.
5. And The G.T.A. Knit Blogs are Under New Management - ME! I am now the ring leader of the ring. Big title, little responsibilities. If you live in the G.T.A. or Canada for that matter, (go big or go home we say!), join HERE.
With that - a couple of more rounds of the purse and off to bed.

I am so excited about my hat. Right now, as I write, my girlfriend is starting the hat. The pattern is written up to the decrease start, so if she finishes up to that part by the end of the weekend, I can work on the decrease section. And have the pattern on line soon. Other than the lovely people who left comments about getting the pattern, send me an email, and I will give it to you once completed.
Knitting news - more like unknitting news. I ripped out the cowl neck featured in WIP, after knitting 6", the thing looked like a hair net after it had been on someone's head all day. No wonder the original in the book was in a nice light blue. In black - well, does not look that good. So what do with three balls of Rowan Kidsilk Haze? HMM...The mind goes crazy and does the wave - I know I am going to make this - GRACE from Knitty! Thats it. This is the one. Thanks to Corrie, who turned my eye to it, and which made it easier to rip out the cowl neck for a more appealing project - this yarn will not be in my stash very long.
One last note - anyone interested in a GRACE knit a-long? I am making one, so why not YOU? This is your mission, should you choose to accept it - Are you falling from Grace or flying high on the wings of the needles? Let me know....

well - where do I start? Admit I was panicing yesterday over the hat? Yes siree bob! Well, I, and I alone figured it out! First time for everthing. Here is a picture of me wearing the hat in my messy family room, (I have kids, what can I say):

And I close up of the stitch pattern:

Thats is it for now folks. Oh yeah, no it is not, as usual I have alot to say! I am going to have my girlfriend test out my pattern in the round and once completed, I will have my own little Free Patterns page for the hat. That is of course if anyone is interested in making it. Would you be?

I have not posted lately, as there has not been much knitting going on at my house. The 'needs' of others seem more important than the 'wants' of mine, but such as life.
I have been desperately looking for the Rowan Calmer book with no such luck so I can make the Aura hat, but having this hat, is out of my reach. So, I took matters into my own hands and somewhat designed a similar hat. Somewhat because, I used the same stitch pattern I am using for my cowl neck! I am now at the decrease section for the crown, but have no idea how I am going to decrease with all those yarn overs. Tonight I am meeting Sandra, who is pretty good with these types of things - so I am banking on her telling me how to do it, and have it finished tonight, ASAP.
If anyone has any idea how to decrease with YOs, please, please, please HELP ME!
Here is the lace pattern - K1 *yo, sl1, K1, yo, psso. The second row is: K2, drop the yo. I have 91 stitches, and I am assuming I need to get down to around 7-9. Simple, eh? Whatever.
I am the type of person who needs to follow the pattern.. I don’t generally deviate from it, but since I can't find that book, (plus I don’t want to spend $20.00 for one hat pattern) I need to improvise and this improvisation is going good, until now, which is what I had expected.

Yippee! the halter is DONE like dinner for the tank a - long ! Thinking this would be an easy and fast knit, which of course it was not, this puppy is on the Finished Projects Page. I made some changes to the pattern - I made the neck band in seed stitch vs. 1x1 ribbing listed in the pattern. Also, I did not like the rolling of the Stocknette stitch, so I picked up the cast on stitches, and knit about 1" of seed stitch. You can probably see it, well, if you have a magnifying glass handy. But trust me, it is nice.
I am also inserting a smaller picture here:

I am standing next to the new play ground thingie my husband built for my kids above the sand box he made last year. The little brown hair one is my younger daughter, and the blond is from next door. And one more thing is new - the skirt.
My lovely sister in law and her husband bought it for me for my birthday. Did I mention she is 5 months pregnant? No? Well she is! But Dave (her husband) does not want to find out the sex of the baby - he wants it to be a surprise. Well that is no good for a knitter. We need to know! Us knitters ask ourselves - what colours? Should I knit a little itty bitty dress? If we do, and it is a boy - you have to knit something else - and FAST. There is only 4 months left to go, and I am sure I can whip something up fast - as isn't the baby worth it? Of course he/she is!
To leave this post with yet another update - Istarted the tank top for my daughter. I am about 2" done and will post pictures when there is more progress.

Okay, 2nd post of the day, but I wanted to report the late breaking news - the direction of the halter has changed. YEAH. I decided to keep the halter and sew it up, just to see. And see I did! The mattress stitch is quite easy and looks fantastic. See (well actually you shouldn't see the seam, thats the point):

Please mind the top of the join, that will be fixed, and the curling at the bottom, I am going to knit down in seed stitch to flatten it out and make it longer. Hopefully it works.
And the other part of my good news - is this:

My good friend Carol gave it to me today as a birthday gift. How NICE! I love it. The colours are orange, yellow and greens. Nice scarf for fall! Great - another project. The more the merrier.
